Back to it

I’m trying to get back to a post-sick triathlon training schedule.  Today we ran our 3+ miles, tomorrow I’ll swim 1500-1700 meters, Saturday is a long overdue bike ride, and Sunday we will do a longer run.  I think that the Sunday run may only be 6 or 7 miles; I need to map out our route to see how it looks.

Monday should be a good day for cycling, though I have to go out early. The rule of thumb for summer holiday Mondays is that by 9AM the park is SO crowded that it’s very difficult to ride without constantly stopping. Therefore, in order to do a short ride, I need to be out there before 8.  I stepped on the scale this morning and I REALLY REALLY need to start taking my training more seriously; I am at a three year high for weight which I can reverse if I am careful this weekend. No more coconut cream pie for me, no sirree.

Running at 6:30AM in May is completely different than doing it in winter.  The warm weather is nice, but the crowd of people aren’t.  My friend E thinks that it should be a requirement to access the park in summer than you have to have run in winter.  In a few weeks (well, four) when the teachers are done with school the crowds will become a horde.  I don’t understand the attraction of the park in 90 degree weather, but I know that I’m in the minority. Biking will become more attractive the hotter it gets.

 Hot. Yuck.

Hee - yeah I think you know what kind of hallmark card writer I’d be. And I’ll make sure to come out with a line of hot pink “thank you”s - just for you! :) Oh, and, since you’re giving up coconut cream pies, you send any extras to me.

wow, even that early it is crowded… I guess people must go before work. I’ve been going around 9:30-11 the past few days (in between those times, not that long!!) and it is practically empty on our path here… maybe b/c I’m north of downtown. At any rate, I too HATE when it’s nice out and everyone decides to take over the path. Do you get rollarbladers too?? Those are the WORST, they take up the entire path in both directions a lot of the time. Makes me want to get on a bike and run them over… except that might ruin the bike — you just can’t win.

I wonder, though, how well underwear would flush with a septic system. Not sure I want to find out.
