The run last night was good, though quite humid. We did our 4 miles slowly and calmly. Happily, the park was much emptier than usual because there were scattered thunderstorms. I love to run when the weather is threatening–it’s dramatic and cooling and close to home if I need to rush away.
I’m hoping to get a [...]

Planning
June 29, 2007Training my weakness
June 28, 2007Thanks to the commenters; it helps a lot. I was saved from working out by the thunderstorms, so tonight will be a big test. Can I do a 45 minute/4 mile run and do this program and not kill anyone from hunger and/or frustration?
The NYC Triathlon is three weeks and three days away. My head [...]
Squee!
June 27, 2007I’ve spent most of the morning having someone change my computer. OF COURSE the most important program doesn’t work. Woo Hoo.
My friend who is 30 weeks pregnant has been hospitalized because her water broke. Apparently the plan is to keep her there for 4 WEEKS monitoring her and the fetus. She called me this morning [...]
Changes?
June 26, 2007I bit the bullet and went to Weight Watchers last night. It wasn’t terrible, though I’m not a great lover of the phrase, “Does anyone want to share,” unless someone is sharing candy. Or baked goods. So when the leader asked whether any of the new members wanted “to share” I kept my arms firmly [...]
Not the boss of me!
June 25, 2007The mother reminded me last week that I’ve always been prone to want to better my situation.
“Yes,” she said, “I remember when we lived in the apartment building and you were two and the neighbor knocked on the door and told me that you were out in the hall looking for a new mother.”
“That’s not [...]
You can always go…
June 24, 2007The NYC Triathlon is four weeks from today. That means that I have about 3 weeks to train because the week of the race is a week of rest. Rest is a beautiful thing.
Yesterday I did my first 20 mile ride of the season. It was a GREAT day for a ride, cool and breezy. [...]
Mrs. Kvetchington
June 22, 2007I want to be Nappington instead, but I haven’t left work yet, though I could have left an hour ago.
Work this week was hell. Very hectic and ridiculous. I just hope our interviewers are ready to go out into the universe to do their jobs. The training was…odd.
I haven’t made time to go to Weight [...]
The pain of it all
June 19, 2007Last night, right after I came home, I was walking through the living room when a piece of wooden furniture bit me. There must have been some wood sticking out because I managed to get a big piece of wood lodged underneath my finger nail. I tried to ignore it, but it got more and [...]
Scheduled program
June 15, 2007Supposedly my little work problem is going to get fixed. I’m cautiously optimistic.
Back to our regularly scheduled programming. The NYC Triathlon is 37 days away. I’m feeling sore despite not having cycled since Sunday. I’m not going to try to rent a bike up at my mom’s because I want to rest (and because it’s [...]
The youngster
June 14, 2007Yesterday our stunningly beautiful, pre-med, college intern asked my co-worker what “orogenital sex” is because it was mentioned on an H!V prevention website. My [favorite] co-worker responded by lapping her tongue and making slurpy noises. Presumably, that isn’t sexual harassment. I heard the exchange, but didn’t have the opportunity to see the intern’s face, which [...]
