Eleven pounds of cat

July 31, 2007

Over the weekend, I spoke with Pumpkin’s vet.  P has elevated creatinine and BUN levels, which may indicate the beginning of kidney disease.  When I spoke to the vet she told me to get a urine sample or to make an appintment for her to get a urine sample.  I asked her about the worst [...]

drop dead

July 30, 2007

When I started the running three and a half years ago, I was known as the fat, slow woman who had a hard time running a mile, even after the three month beginning class was over. When I did the Danskin triathlon, I was known as the woman who was comfortable in the water, but [...]

Give me an R!

July 26, 2007

I had a great run last night.  We did 4 miles slow/fast/slow/fast and it felt good.  I am psyched to be able to ditch the biking and to swim only for fun.  Tri season is OVER for me and marathon training will begin on Sunday.
The marathon is just over three months away!  We hope to [...]

Menses, chmenses

July 25, 2007

I dropped my laundry off at the cleaners on the way to work.  I had some clean bottoms at home, but they were light in color and at this time of the month that worries me. So I’m wearing a red silk skirt. I like the skirt, but it blows up in any breeze.
Happily, I [...]

Back to the old story

July 24, 2007

Thanks to everyone who left comments yesterday.  It was a bright spot in my day.
This morning, I got out with R and K and ran 3.3 miles.  I ran a couple of minutes slower than usual, but it felt fine. The weather here is COOL and that helps immeasurably.  R and E feel that we [...]

The way it was

July 23, 2007

Yesterday morning I called the car service at 3:45am, they came at 4am and we arrived at the transition area by 4:35, five minutes after it opened.  My foot felt a bit gimpy, I wish I understood the issue with it. I don’t think that it’s an injury, but I was/am feeling some discomfort on [...]

Done.

July 22, 2007

I did the race!  I wasn’t last in my age group!
The only place that I met/exceeded my goal was in the swim, where I took 5 minutes off last time.
I can’t sit up too long so I need to keep this short, but basically the bike was not my friend today. The 12 MPH headwind [...]

Predictions, hopes and dreams

July 20, 2007

Yeah…so…yeah.
The race is on Sunday. I am even more unprepared than usual.  My mother left at 6:15 this morning and I dragged myself out for a 3 mile run. It felt pretty good to loosen up. Tomorrow I’ll bike 5 or 6 miles and then them it’ll be time to do the thing on Sunday.
I [...]

I had a dream…

July 18, 2007

I saw Gypsy last night and it was phenomenal. Patti Lupone has an incredible voice and stage presence and Laura Benanti, who plays Louise/Gypsy was terrific also. I went with a 72 year old friend and her 80 year old friend and they couldn’t remeber the last time they saw such fabulous theater.
Since I am all [...]

Data overload

July 17, 2007

The start times are up. I am in wave #16 of 34, starting at 6:48am.  yuck–that’s actually 30 minutes later than I had hoped.  Women 35-39 are the next to last women to start. That totally sucks. It means that lots of testosterone fueled lunatics will be screaming at me during the bike leg: “ON [...]
