Damn beast

Damn cat woke me at 4:30. I should return to bed, but I need to be up in about 2 hours to go for an 8 mile run with R, who bought me a lovely dinner yesterday.

Yesterday I biked 23 miles and it went well. I rode over 13MPH and Pain-free E joined me.  This is a different E than the one I usually train with; this woman did the marathon with a stress fracture two years ago. And despite the doubts of her orthopedist, she is intending to do it again.

E rides much faster than I do ESPECIALLY going uphill. But it was great to have company for 16 miles of the ride and we got to talk about work and food and running.

The park was mobbed with people and many of them wanted to get hit by a bike. They stepped out into the bike lanes, ran in the bike lanes, let their pets into the bike lanes…it was a mess.  It gives such a feeling of accomplishment when you avoid getting hit or hitting someone else.

If I can get some more damn sleep I will run and swim today.  And maybe wash some dishes in my down time. My apartment looks like a tornado hit it. Even I think it’s disgusting and that means it’s pretty bad.

Rant, rave, snore…

Yay for biking! I have to say, I don’t miss riding in crowds of people. When I used to bike on the lakeshore trail regularly, there is a stretch by the beach where people would just wander across the path without looking. And in the summer, it was often covered with sand, which made for exciting braking. I actually snapped a brake cable once when some idiot parents weren’t watching their toddler and she ran about two feet in front of my front tire. Scared the crap out of me. It’s a whole different kind of biking.
