Wherefore art thou?
As I write this, a friend of mine is sitting on line in central Park to get us tickets for Romeo and Juliet. I’m excited. Lauren Ambrose, from Six Feet Under, is Juliet and Camryn Manheim is the Nurse. I had to memorize a good deal of the first 2 Acts of the play in 7th grade? Or was it ninth grade? Well…like many people, I can recite lots of speeches. I’m excited to hear all about thumb biting, pears, codpieces and Ethiop’s ears.
I’m not so sure how excited I’ll be tomorrow at 6:30am when I get out of bed and get ready for another 20 mile ride. We need to be at the park early—by 10 it’ll be complete pandemonium. I’m hoping that the weather is good enough for me to get in a ride and a swim…but it’ll depend on when the rain actually arrives.
And…yay me…my first week of deprivation and despair was a success! I’m hoping that another 25 weeks of despair will get me to my goal.

Sorry about the despair. But I have to say, you look anything but despairing in your picture up there. I’ve been reading on bloglines and haven’t been clicking through to your page. I need to remember to do that, because that picture makes me happy.

I hope all those weeks aren’t total despair. Throw an ice cream cone in there somewhere.

Congrats on the success. And freshhell is right - you need to allow yourself a little fun amid the despair and deprivation. Ice cream, a big fat margarita, whatever. You’ll still lose.

What is summer without ice cream….ummmm….yeah, that is despair. Have some ice cream. Like while you’re watching Shakespeare in the Park. How lucky is that? I think Lauren Ambrose will be great in that role.
