Predictions, hopes and dreams
Yeah…so…yeah.
The race is on Sunday. I am even more unprepared than usual. My mother left at 6:15 this morning and I dragged myself out for a 3 mile run. It felt pretty good to loosen up. Tomorrow I’ll bike 5 or 6 miles and then them it’ll be time to do the thing on Sunday.
I hope to be able to update the blog by Sunday night to let everyone know how it went. Or you can look me up on the website. Here are my predictions:
Swim: 30 min (last time 29:33…I shouyld be able to do better, but the swim varies a LOT depending on the current. JC/S say to stay near the kayaks, away from the seawall in order to take best advantage of the current.)
Transition 1–[swim --> bike]: 9 minutes [last time 10:04]
Bike: 1:44 [last time 1:49:46]
Transition 2 [bike --> run] 2 minutes [last time 2:39]
Run: 1:16 [last time 76:18]
I hope for 3:41 if it’s a good day. I’ll be happy just to cross the finish line. That’s what it’s about…crossing the finish line in one piece.
I’ve already met my goal; I spent the past 10 weeks running, biking and swimming. But damn, it would be nice to meet my time goal.

Good luck! I’ll be thinking about you on Sunday (and probably checking the website frequently). I’ll do my best to send the fabulous weather we’re having right now your way by Sunday. At 1 p.m. it’s 72, bone dry and a little breezy. I may do a second run today just because it’s so nice.

Another “good luck”! Looks like the weather won’t be too horrible on Sunday. Hope that actually happens.

“Viel Glueck!” (Good Luck). I have another 4 months (to the day) of training before I can say “…it would be nice to meet my time goal”…I am envious…your hard work is done, enjoy the race!
