Menses, chmenses
I dropped my laundry off at the cleaners on the way to work. I had some clean bottoms at home, but they were light in color and at this time of the month that worries me. So I’m wearing a red silk skirt. I like the skirt, but it blows up in any breeze.
Happily, I own a couple of pairs of triathlon shorts and one pair is now functioning as a little underlayer. The skirt blows and you see…black and white shorts. Sex-Ay.
Despite what my mother likes to think, I do still get cramps even though I exercise. I spent my childhood hearing that I’d be thin, healthy and cramp-free if I were active. I would grunt and take a piece of Italian bread and a novel back to bed with me. Fast-forward 25 years and I am healthy, but still overweight and struggling with mentrual cramps. I mean, it isn’t a HUGE struggle…I just take 400 mg of Advil every 4 hours. Last night I unexpectedly fell asleep without taking the Advil and I woke up every hour from midnight to six with cramps, but I was too tired to find the Advil.
I can’t wait for women-o-pause so I can stop women-struating. Menses, chmenses.

I struggle with the same issue, but it seems the harder I work out just before ‘the monthly enemy’ I do not cramp quite as bad.
The hubby knows that is it really bad when I start singing “I’ve got cramps, they’re mutliplying…I am loosing control!” lol (Sing that to the melody of “You are the one that I want” from Grease as loud as you can).

My sympathies. I never had cramps when I was younger, nor did I have a particularly…er…lush flow. As I’ve aged, the flow and the cramps have come fast and furious - requiring heavy duty lady products and an Advil intake similar to yours. Exercise doesn’t seem to do a damn thing and since menopause has so far just flirted with me, I am about ready to look into endometrial ablasion to ease these issues.

The only good news I can give you is, at least in my case, is that cramps eventually go away in your early 40’s during your period. And if you ever get to see “Menopause the Musical” go see it. Its just played for it second summer up here because it was such a big hit last year. Its hilarious!
