Tornado?!

I was awakened by a loud storm at about 5:45am.  I just noticed that there is a tornado watch for Brooklyn and Staten Island.  The weather service is instructing me to find a basement and get under a piece of sturdy furniture. That is not helpful; the basement of my building, like most buildings near here, is padlocked.  Bummer for me and the cat.

I realized yesterday that the bathroom door shuts again so the cat can sleep there. The downside is that she pees on the floor next to the litter box.

Last night I took care of my friends’ 10 month old while they went out to celebrate their anniversary.  My friend was afraid that the baby would keep me playing the whole time.  But I rocked him to sleep not longer after they left and he stayed asleep until they came home; I guess that he didn’t want to watch Big Brother.  Shocking.  As I was leaving, he woke up and started crawling around.

The rain has subsided a bit.  I guess I should get myself to work.  I am SO glad that we have no run planned for today.  Right now they are forecasting temperatures in the 90s and I will be sitting in air-conditioned bliss all day.

Updated to say that it took me an hour and 45 minutes to go the 5+ miles to work.  Very few people made it here and I am ready to go home.  Sleep.

Saw the weather conditions on CNN and was wondering if you were effected by it. I am glad all we have to deal with is the heat here*knock on wood*.

I won’t have time to do my 4 miles before the run when I do the half. That race is 1.5 hours from my house. I’ll have to think about it, maybe I can run the 4 early, early in the morning…I’ll be pumped enough, that’s for sure.

Good luck with your 10, should seem like nothing! ;)

When that storm rolled through here, we got 6 inches of rain and two hours of lightning close enough to set two nearby houses on fire. AJ’s response (at 3 in the morning, when we were huddled in his bed while the storm raged)? “At least we don’t live in Tornado Alley.” I won’t mention tornados in Brooklyn. I don’t think he really wants to know.

CNN’s website has an article on your storm - yikes! Hope you were able to make it in to work (and more importantly, HOME) today.

Was just looking at all the damage in Brooklyn. Glad you’re ok. Gah to being stuck in the subway with flood waters!
