The run is over and I’m pleased with the results. I did the 18 miles in just under a 13:10 per mile pace. R and I did the first 12 miles together and the last 6 miles separately and she finished about 10-15 minutes ahead of me.
R found it to be a tough race because [...]

I am free for the weekend. Today is my day of rest in preparation for tomorrow’s projected 18 miles.
18 miles…three times around Central Park. It’s a race sponsored by ING as the marathon tune-up. The car will be picking us up at 5:30AM. I just hope to finish close to the 4 hour mark and [...]

7:30. How can these evil beasts keep us until 7:30 listening to their drivel…um…important criminal cases.
It was also grueling because today we heard part of an ESS-VEE-YOU case. I would like to recuse myself from all cases related to violence against wom3n, but have decided to do my duty and g3t the b@st@ards.
In lighter news, [...]

I finally lost more weight and I’m up to a 7 lb loss in 13 weeks. After another late day at JD, the weigh-in was quite a pick-me up. It’s easy for me to eat less when I’m not working…less stress=less food in my world.
A young white woman was dismounting her bike. Apparently someone told [...]

JD is like this: X says Y did Z. Y says no. X says yes. Friends of X agree with X. Y has no friends. Drugs are bad. Guns are bad. People are bad. Jur0rs are dumb. Lawyers are overworked and sometimes incomprehensible. Dumb jur0rs ask too many questions. Dumb jur0rs think they are Perry Fucking [...]

We did a long run yesterday. It wasn’t as long as we had planned, but it was the distance that we had originally been scheduled for–13 miles. The best thing about the run is that E joined us and we did an Indian run for about 3 of the 13 miles. An IR is when [...]

It’s Yom Kippur and I’m here drinking my coffee. Given that I’m supposed to be fasting, coffee is NOT a traditional part of the day. I guess since I’m eating, coffee is OK. My aunt left me a message that she’d only be eating nuts and drinking coffee today. Nice. Anyway, I woke up aching all [...]

We had another uninspiring run last night. At least we had negative splits–we did the first 2 miles in 27 minutes and the second two miles in 24:20. With the increased heat and humidity, we were happy to stop after four miles. I’m nervous about doing 16 miles on Sunday and I don’t think it’s [...]

I like to write in the blog before I really start my day’s work. The problem on days like today is that I’m barely coherent. Given that this usually my MOST coherent time, I’m in trouble.
Tomorrow at dusk starts Yom Kippur [Day of Atonement] and I’m trying to figure out what I’m doing. I’m going [...]

My day did not have an auspicious start. I woke up with cramps/period and just as I started my shower, the animal made a stinky deposit in the catbox, which is just outside the bathroom. I could smell the poo throughout the shower. I hope things improve from here. I have to take notes at [...]
