Ready
It’s not going to cool off until Wednesday or Thursday. I’m done with this nasty humid summer weather…I want cool weather. Yesterday I told R that I didn’t think that there was a point in doing another long run in nasty humid weather–it’s just too demoralizing. We did do a 4 mile recovery run (at a 12:45 pace…too fast for recovery) yesterday and both felt OK. I’m sitting here alternately icing my foot and my knee and hoping for the best.
After my crappy run on Saturday we ate and then I picked up tofu and vegetables for my lunch. I realized after a couple of hours that I was already hungry again and that a tofu dinner wouldn’t be satisfying at all. So I ate my consolation prize–a mozzarella cheeseburger and fries and chocolate pudding. The great thing about a meal like that is I spend no time foraging for something to satisfy me…I eat it and I’m satisfied.
Yesterday M and I returned to the beach for our last hurrah. I do love the beach. We saw an elderly lady sitting on her walker platform at the edge of the surf, an Orthodox family with four kids running to the water and one lone Caribbean family. I watched as someone’s umbrealla blew away–it took him about 5 minutes to realize that it was gone because he was so intent on his girlfriend’s butt as he put lotion on her legs.
But like I said…I’m ready for some 60 degree weather, some breezes, some dry air. I’m ready…now…ready…hello?

Now I want a mozz cheese burger
Hang in there, today is very cool here. I think it is on the way. It is demoralizing, I know what you mean. I couldn’t believe the enormous difference doing my last long run in much cooler weather. I drank about 1/3 the amount of gatorade and the heat and humidity didn’t zap me. (Maybe my gatorade consumption has something to do with why I haven’t lost any weight in 12 weeks of training???) UGH.
Going to the beach with you sounds like it would be entertaining!!

It’s too hot here still and I’m with you on the cooler weather. I have serious garden tasks to do and it’s just too gross out to spend more than 20 minutes doing them. Also, the banana bread recipe can be found under Recipes on my front page (it’s from Joy of Cooking). And the cookies - just make yer regular tollhouse cookies and add two large spoonsful of peanut butter to the batter. Hea.Ven.Ly.

Oops - I take that back. I’ve got the wrong (less good) banana bread recipe posted. I’ll try to recify that soon.

I am hungry now!
Hang in there, cooler weather is on the way (or so I have been told).

Its coming. Our highs are only going to be in the low 60s with lows in the upper 30s on Wednesday. And you know where I am. So its coming. (p.s. I HATE the heat too. Makes me even grumpier than usual, if that is possible).
