Planning YK
I like to write in the blog before I really start my day’s work. The problem on days like today is that I’m barely coherent. Given that this usually my MOST coherent time, I’m in trouble.
Tomorrow at dusk starts Yom Kippur [Day of Atonement] and I’m trying to figure out what I’m doing. I’m going to services tomorrow evening, but I prefer to only go once, either evening or the following day, so I don’t spend a lot of time wishing I were someplace else while other people are praying. I don’t fast because I don’t think it makes sense for me [instant headache], though I try to eat sparsely. For Saturday-day I’ve decided that radio is OK and TV is not. I really don’t want to skip the Greenmarket because the opportunity for fresh vegs, fruits and scallops only comes once a week and I missed last week.
I won’t run on Saturday, so we’ll do a long run on Sunday. We’re thinking of 16 miles in order to be prepared for next week’s 18 mile run. It’s going to be a little warmer on Sunday and I’m not excited about that. Not at all. I am hoping to do some walking and ruminating. And maybe cleaning. Not real cleaning, but clean-enough-to-get-someone-else-to-clean cleaning.
Time to open my eyes and start working. sigh.

Sounds like you have a plan pretty well worked out. I learn so much from you about your holidays. It’s very refreshing. I think I am pretty sheltered (I like to say, recovering Catholic!) The market sounds awesome.
I hope YK goes as planned for you.

Boy, I feel so ignorant when you talk about your holidays, I know nothing about them. But I google them, so I am making strides to becoming less ignorant.
I hope that you guys get a good solid 16 miler in on Sunday.
