She writes it too fast so she can eat dinner

We did a long run yesterday. It wasn’t as long as we had planned, but it was the distance that we had originally been scheduled for–13 miles.  The best thing about the run is that E joined us and we did an Indian run for about 3 of the 13 miles.  An IR is when you run in a line and the person in back runs to the front–it’s a way of doing speed training. This was a slow “Indian run” and it was a good distraction.

Also yesterday, we saw the 40th anniversary production of Hair, at the Delacorte theatre in Central Park.  Lots of peace and love. My favorite part of the show after the singing was the costumes–I haven’t seen so many fringed suede vests on men in a long time.  These are tickets I got through my public radio station so while some people stood on line for several hours for free tickets and other people paid $125 per ticket, I just gave my name at the box office and had a great time.

And yes, today I started GJ duty.  I’ll be there for two weeks.  Most of the major loonies opted out or weren’t selected–the toothless woman who couldn’t wait to serve was KILLING me.  The biggest surprise is that we hear the cases piecemeal.  Today we got one witness each from 4 totally different cases with 4 different attorneys. They are all cr1minal cases, so there is nothing uplifting at all.  I think that it will be a strange two weeks.

I walked the almost-three-miles home and it was a beautiful day. That was the highlight. Only nine days to go.

Wow, 40th anniversary of “Hair”. Kinda makes a hippy like me feel old. Although I was only 9 when the show opened.

My sister and I marvel to this day that my parents, Dylan-loving folkies that they were, not only bought the Hair soundtrack but seemed to have no qualms about their children wandering around the house belting out the words to”Sodomy”. Good, good times.
