Can’t trust this day

People here seem to be enjoyed the 70-something degree weather. I’m not. I want fall.

I’m not so satisfied with my speed dating outfit, but I’m sure that it’ll be fine. Because I need to stay around after work hours, I’ll get a pedicure and then reluctantly put on pantyhose and boots at 7:15.  Until then I’m wearing flipflops that clash with my outfit.  I really hope to be home before 10 tonight. I always need some down time after these things to consider the horror of it all.  Last time many people commented on my seeming intelligence…what does this mean, I wonder?  [It meant that I got no matches, ha!!]  It’s not like I’m going to going speed dating and act like Georgette from Mary Tyler Moore…or Vera from Alice. Can you tell how old I am? I do think that speed dating as Lena Lamont would be hilarious–but I think that platinum blonde hair would kill me.

Like everyone who isn’t a millionaire, I came away from my first apartment viewing marvelling about how little a “regular person” can get in this market.  I could move someplace else and get a house…but I suspect that anyplace else I lived my salary would drop…plunk.

I’m going to see my mother this weekend and am looking forward to some cooler weather. I need to be back for my “long run” on Sunday–the last 10 miles of the marathon course.  It’s coming close…and then I’m going to go back to more normal distances.  R and I have both done enough NYRR races(9) to qualify for next year’s marathon. R pointed out to me that of the nine races, seven of them were 10 miles or more.  We felt sore just discussing it.

Fall is coming. Here, yesterday it was 80 and today the thermometer inched up toward 60 and is now in the process of inching back down again. It’s 54 and blustery. Finally some October weather!

I am toying with the idea of running the NY marathon in ‘09…someone hand me a rope! ;) Hopefully you’ll still be running them by then! I’ll need pointers as to where to stay, etc. :)

How did your 13 miler go? I am ready for fall as well..the high temp was 81 yesterday.

Speed dating as Lena Lamont! That cracked me up. But you might just meet your Gene Kelly!

Yeah, I know that. Still, that is one of my favourite movies of all time.
