Fun and not so fun

I ate a version of this lovely soup for lunch today.  A little Korean hole-in-the-wall has opened near work and I’ve been getting food there a couple of days a week. I saw someone get this soup last week and wanted to try it.  It was hot, and filling and pretty perfect for Winter.

One of the things I love about the Korean place is that it appears to be a family affair. There is an older woman, who either cooks or tries to teach a male employee to cook. While I wait, I listen to her fuss at him and try to explain what to do.  I love a food place where the cooking area is out in the open, so I can watch the cooking happen and pretend the place is vermin-free.

I justified the soup to myself because I thought that I’d be running tonight, but my foot has been sore and my throat has been sore.  It is a good night to be indoors.

It’s always a good night to be indoors.  An acquaintance from work invited me to a big Kar@0ke party she’s having for her b-day. It’s the kind of 100s of people pandemonium that won’t even start until 10. The idea of staying awake past 11 to talk to strangers gives me hives. How could that be fun?

My brother was voted best karaoke DJ in town a few years ago. I’m not sure how we’re related. It must have been a mistake. Karaoke? Being sociable? what? Thats just too weird.
