Dust Bears in My Lair

Yesterday was the first day that I felt surrounded by dust bears. But I didn’t let that stop me–I did another hour of cleaning. This hour turned up my college orientation materials from over 21 years ago and a couple of papers from high school.  I can report that I was an excellent Spanish student and an uninspired history student, though my grades were good for both classes.  I’m pleased about my progress with the de-crapping of the room, which will recommence on Saturday.

I also feel satisfied with my weekend running. Between Saturday and Monday, I did over 15 miles of running, which is good for someone who intends to run a half-marathon in 7 weeks.  I’m glad that I don’t have to run it tomorrow, since we’ve been averaging 4 miles for our longest run in the past couple of months.  In order to feel good about the 13 miles, we’ll need to be sure to do longer “long” runs, weather permitting.  So with increased fitness in mind, I will get together with the group to run once during the week–tonight, in fact.

Also, if you have a parent who is over the age of 70, or is sick, do NOT go see the Savages.  It was more uneven and more depressing than I thought.  Save yourselves.

Wow, you really do have a lot to throw away. After my miserable stint as a student teacher, I rejoiced in throwing out every remnant of that horrible, horrible mistake. All my notes, notebooks, journals, lesson plans, grade books - all of it was pitched. I felt much better afterward and could move on to whatever it was I would do in the future. I felt light and free.

Thanks for the warning on The Savages - I was tempted to see it but I think I’ll pass, based on your words. Congrats on the cleaning! And re: my walking - I’ve been doing 4 miles, twice a week and 8 miles once a week. It seems like a lot but it’s very relaxing to me and I like to eat.

Same here. I was thinking about it too, but I’m definitely skipping it. No running for me, alas — it’s 4 degrees. Again.

I enjoy going through stuff from “many moons ago”. I find it enteraining on how hell bent I once was to hold on to that stuff and how many years later down the road I can’t even remember why! :)

Hurray for your and your milage, that is awesome!
