Magical mystery tour of dust in my bedroom
I managed to do my two designated hours of cleaning this weekend. Yesterday my job was to clean up my audio tapes, most of which were packed up. I rescued a few from oblivion:
Anything Goes-1988 Broadway Cast Recording
A Chorus Line- Original (1975) Cast Recording
The Mamas & Papas- 16 Greatest Hits
Paul Simon- The Rhythm of the Saints
Joan Baez- Farewell Angelina
The Beatles- Sgt Pepper on one Side and Magical Mystery Tour on the other
and a tape that Harriet made for me in 1990 of Christine Lavin and Shawn Colvin, respectively.
Today, the running folk and I did 6.7 miles. We did the first half at a 13 minute mile pace and the second half at an 11:45/mile pace. For a longer run, it felt very good. Even though it’s always hard to build up to a longer distance, I am feeling like it has gotten a lot easier in the past couple of years. There were a couple of years that I found it difficult to run in the cold after going on vacation and running in the heat. So for the past 2 years, I have done no running on my Caribbean vacations and that seems to work well for me.
Also working since yesterday–my new DVD player. JP came and heroically hooked it up, despite much resistance from Mr. DVR. So now I am in the 21st century with that. But when I saw JP’s beautiful iPhone…I felt strictly 20th century. I do love those iPhones…not that I need one. But it’s a beautiful thing!

I’ve had my “Sgt. Pepper’s” cassette tape (yes, I’m a nerd) in my car for over a year. I’ve probably played it about 1.6 million times.

Congratulations on both the continued cleaning and the DVD player. We were quite late to the game as well. We still haven’t gotten rid of the VCR yet. You just never know….

Okay, you’ve inspired me to do a little cleaning out too. I did the bathroom drawers and all my jewelry yesterday. Next, undies. I think it may be sinful to see the enormous pile of underwear and bras I have collected. I swear I wear like 5 of them. It’s going to be a big pitch fest. Thanks for the inspiration. It’s been when the whole house is a junk drawer.

Just reading the words “A Chorus Line” here earlier today put this song in my head: “One! Singular sensation…blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.” Maybe that’s why I’m in such a bad mood today. Shame on you for controlling my mind this way.
