Sunday evening overview

When I couldn’t get the book I wanted yesterday, I bought the new book from the Tess Monaghan mystery series instead.  Sadly, I have finished the mystery, which I enjoyed a lot.  In addition to having great characters and a fun/gory plot, this book features one of the best author photos I have ever seen.  I have read two or three of that series and I need to go back and get the earlier ones…I should go to the library, but I really don’t like books from the library–they smell.

I feel like I got a lot accomplished today. In preparation for a half-marathon which is only four weeks away, we did 3 loops of 2.85 miles each for a total of 8.5 miles. It was tough (perhaps because of the three glasses of wine I drank last night) and I feel it in my left ankle, but I’m glad that we did it. I need to get a ten mile run done in the next two weeks. Feh.

I went to the grocery store and am making chicken soup so that I won’t have to eat as much take-out this week as I did last week. So I have bananas, cilantro, carrot, onion, ginger, lime, chicken and kale simmering on the stove. I am hoping that drinking some chicken broth will keep me calm during the series finale of the Wire.  I’m gonna have nightmares. I just know it.

That sounds like a fabulous chicken soup. I’d love the recipe. Also, I thought of you when I walked into our local B & N and was greeted by a table with an enormous stack of Richard Price books. Because no one seems to read anything weighty (literally or figuratively) in that store. I hope to send your CD tomorrow, by the way. I just haven’t had a chance to get to the P.O.
