No time to say hello/goodbye

At the last minute, i decided to take today off and extend my vacation by a day.  I just couldn’t bear the thought of sitting at a desk for 6 more hours.

So instead, I went for a bike ride to make up for the run I skipped last night.  I have been hating running in the past two months and biking has the advantage of a breeze.  I was riding in the park and at one point had to slow almost to a stop because there were 20 or 30 young children being crossed by their counselors.  One of the counselors was 10 feet in front of the group, being traffic cop.  I was impressed by their level of organization and felt fine about slowing for 20 or 30 seconds,  There was a woman with an old bike who just tried to ignore the whole thing. Traffic cop teen kept waving his hands and trying to get her to stop, but she ultimately zigged through the end of the line immediately after the last 7 or 8 year old.  The counselors were pretty annoyed and one of them them a quart of water at the offender and missed her by a bit.  And then what did the I-won’t-stop woman do?  She left the park.  She was late for a very important date.

My important business for the day includes trying to get some of my crap off the floor and it also includes a pedicure.  But it didn’t seem important enough to break through a line of little kids for.

Ha! God, people! My office is directly across the street from the post office. There are few traffic lights on this end of town and I have to cross the main street to get there. DESPITE the well-marked crosswalk and a sign stating one MUST yield for pedestrians, rarely does anyone stop. I take my life in my hands everytime I want to mail a package. Grr.

Anyway, have a fantastic trip!! Sending good kitty vibes as well.

I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing trip, you certainly deserve it. Give the tree you are planting for P an extra squirt of water from moi! :)

Thanks Penny. The burial/tree trip isn’t for another three weeks–I don’t even have her ashes back yet! But I hope to have a restful vacation.
