Here are photos are the fire at the Cleaners. Happily, my insurance will pay me several hundred dollars to compensate me for my loss. Thanks to everyone who posted kind words in the past couple of days.

End of story, I hope
March 28, 2009From the ashes
March 26, 2009Today was a better day. The scrape on my knee is healing. One friend gave me a very funny video. Someone who had been procrastinating on giving me my b-day gift gave me a gift certificate to get some clothes when she heard about the laundry situation.
The cleaner/laundry is still boarded up, as are the [...]
My day
March 25, 20091)I got my period
2)I fell on the street and banged up my knee
3)Before work I sent 20 pounds of my clothing to the laundry/dry cleaner. Two hours later there was a fire there and the building is now boarding up.
Not the best day ever. Now I’m going to bed.
WHere IS IT?!
March 24, 2009Yesterday I was traveling home from work as usual. I change trains at Jay Street from the A to the F train. In the past few years, the train dispatchers announce the trains, but often they will only do that if a train is close by. This is inexplicable considering that passengers for the 2 [...]
In which I consume beef
March 23, 2009Yesterday my friends M and B took me to P3ter Lug3r’s steakhouse as a b-day present. It was really wonderful. I have been hearing about this place for close to 20 years and M agreed to take me there for my b-day.
The place is over 100 years old and the tables look it. They have [...]
Sprung
March 21, 2009I enjoyed the first full day of Spring today. One of the things that I liked most was that the fish vendor at the local Greenmarket, who takes the Winter off, was back. I bought scallops for the first time since December and sauteed them with butter and apples for my dinner. They tasted fresh [...]
Evening out
March 20, 2009
I was taken out for a friend’s birthday last night to the Uni0n Square Café. I was there before at some point in the 1990’s and I remember it being FANTASTIC! I enjoyed the food there last night, but it didn’t seem ultra-special to me. It’s rated as one of the favorite restaurants in NY…I [...]
Marching on
March 19, 2009One of the reasons that I like my work place is that my co-workers are pleasant in the mornings. They say hello, and make small talk and if I feel crabby that helps drag me out of it.
That is especially important to me on a gray, overcast day like today. On Tuesday, which was [...]
Revolutions
March 18, 2009Some people at work were raving about what a good book Rev0lutionary Road is and one of them lent it to me. I read about 100 pages of the book and agreed that the writing was fantastic. BUT. But…I found the characters so odious that I had to stop reading. I have been told innumerable [...]
At the movies
March 16, 2009This weekend I saw 2 movies on DVD—a French movie called “Un secret,” that I enjoyed thoroughly and Kit Kittredge, American girl.
Why did I decide to watch Kit? I was thinking that Rachel Getting Married would be available, but it wasn’t. I didn’t know what to do—I had been so set on seeing “Rachel” [...]
